Byron Bay

Hurrah, We've finally found some reasonably priced internet, about 1/6th of the cost at the last two hostels.

We're in Byron bay now which is much nicer than surfers paradise where we've just come from. Surfers was a bit like the costa del sol (i think, i've never been there) byron has much more character, there are lots of organic food shops and impromptu drumming sessions on the beach, that sort of thing. We're going for a surf lesson tomorrow, looking forward to it. They guarantee you'll surf a wave for 40m or you get your money back, sounds good. I think we'll stay here for about 5 nights and then have about 5 nights in sydney before we fly north, all the other towns between here and sydney don't sound interesting enough to bother getting off the bus for.

Hope you all had a good new years, and enjoy your remaining holiday. Also good luck to dave with all his travels as i believe he leaves today.

hey guys,
happy new year. have you ventured to cheeky monkeys yet? don't! i'm still boycotting that bar after they very rudely asked me to leave, its all about cocomangas. wow i can't imagine byron in the heat, we were in scarfs and hats on that beach. and you're right i think the only thing between byron and sydney is rocks, oh but you do get to stop off at the giant prawn, always worth a photo.

I'm sure you'll struggle on regardless of the price. You've got all those poker winnings to fritter away yet (or has Suze already got plans for those!)

Very true matt, those poker winnings are staying securely in my neteller account unitl i get really desperate, if i spend them all i'll have no money to play poker with later and i'll have to start at the beginning again, noooo!

Binx, we're not really going to crappy backpacker discos much as we're basically spending our budget on accom, food, surf lessons and transport with the odd drink here and there. We bought our first box of wine last night, you can get 4 litres for about $8 but we're posh and got 2 litres of hardys for $12. You're right about the beers being a bit crap here but at least the wine is cheap and good.

hey guys,
what all happened then over xmas?
My big news is that my dad proposed to his girl, i love that he tells me this as an aside about what presents he bought this xmas; DVDs, Books, Wedding Ring, Clothes Voucher, etc. Prick.
Right, thats my little bit of gossip, just thought I'd say nice photos from before ash, I'm unbelievably jealous - Manchester is seriously dark and cold, I think the sun just came up about 15 mins ago. Sodding winter.
Oh yeah, I actually sat with my bro and watched the poker channel for about 5 days while at my mum's. sad? certainly. but twas fun all the same.

Ash has always liked taking 'arty' photos of bright shiny things. Usually candles though!
